Lifesignals developed a single use wearable biosensor that records Electrocardiography, Heart Rate, Respiration Rate, Skin Temperature and Body Posture data for up to six days.
Goal
This remote patient monitoring patch was previously designed and manufactured by Icarus Nova for Lifesignals. With the spike in demand for remote-patient monitoring patches, the demand for their sleek, efficient and modular patches drastically increased. With the rise in their demand, they now needed a robust set of platforms to monitor the health of the patches and provide variable access to the platform to different members of the care-team.
Challenge
Since these patches were to be deployed globally in over 56+ hospitals across EMEA and APAC. The challenge was to ensure ease-of-use along with modularity of the digital platforms. Also, to provide selective access to different members of the care-team based on their engagement levels with the patient.
A mobile app to assist patients with self-application of the biosensors.
A mobile & Web app for nurses and medical professionals for remote monitoring of patients.
A Web app for monitoring the health of the biosensors.
Built to replace a clinician’s convoluted workflow, that platform was designed as a solution focussed on efficiency, convenience and accessibility. The overall goal was to relieve the staff of anxiety in the wards and increase their productivity be reducing manual interventions.
The alert system was designed to inform without overwhelming. Different levels of colors were used to indicate different levels of urgency, helping healthcare providers to quickly identify and prioritize the most critical alerts.
Additionally, the system allowed for custom alerts to be created for each patient, giving providers a control center for each individual under their care.
Modularly conceptualised, it is highly configurable and integrates with any hospital EHR, making it scalable to establishments of all sizes. It allows for seamless switching between different logins, without disrupting the user experience.
Designed with clarity and simplicity as the focus, reducing cognitive load and confusion by limiting the options and enabling clinicians to respond in seconds. The dashboard of the Web App was designed to highlight critical events that needed immediate action along with a decision support system.
At a glance, care providers can find the patient's ID (e.g., bed number), name, and the vital sign that crossed the threshold. The visual hierarchy of the components is critical, ensuring that the most important information is immediately evident.
